Benji Connell is an artist and illustrator working at the intersection of architecture, observation, and satire.
Trained in architecture at The Glasgow School of Art, his practice is grounded in an architectural way of seeing - an attention to structure, rhythm, and the tensions that exist within built space and human behaviour. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale and Art Basel Miami, and is held in the permanent archive of the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture.
Benji’s illustrations are defined by a precise, forensic eye for detail - places drawn with the logic of someone who understands how they stand, and people drawn with the uneasy accuracy of someone who has watched a little too closely.
Working primarily in editorial and satirical formats, he responds to current affairs with a sharp, memetic sensibility - translating complex, often absurd contemporary events into images that are immediate, legible, and quietly disarming.
But most importantly - Benji is available for work!
And Benji can muster up the beginnings of just about any creative project.
Benji has collaborated with a wide range of global brands, institutions, and cultural figures across design, architecture and media. His clients include:
Marks Barfield Architects, Grimshaw, Populous, Netflix, Ingka, IKEA, UK Parliament, The Earls Court Development Company, DAE Global, Fred + Eric, Al Ain Museum and Dubai Future Foundation, among others…
And his work has been featured on leading digital art platforms like SuperRare, Foundation, Nifty Gateway and Known Origin.
